Letter from

Brother Thomas Gerrow, FSC, President

Dear Students, Parents, Alumni and Friends of St. John’s,

I am pleased that you have taken the opportunity to visit with us through these pages.  As you peruse this site, I hope you will see that we have good reason to be very proud of our school.  St. John’s is a unique institution that combines excellence in education and moral leadership with superior facilities for our students.

The mission of St. John’s College High School is to provide an excellent academic and Christian education to young men and women throughout the greater Washington area.

Rooted in the Lasallian tradition, St. John’s prepares its students for a life dedicated to leadership, achievement and service to the community by developing the whole person – body, mind, heart and spirit.

Established in 1851, St. John’s College High School is the second oldest Christian Brothers’ school in the United States.  Located on a 30-acre campus adjacent to Rock Creek Park in the Northwest neighborhood of Chevy Chase, the school moved to its present site in September of 1959.

Building on our legacy of values, tradition and excellence, the St. John’s community always strives to enrich the learning experience of our students.  We have, in recent years, made significant capital improvements to our expansive campus:  the establishment of a state-of-the-art science and technology center, the renovation of the football/baseball stadium, and the installation of the lacrosse/soccer stadium with its artificial turf field, to name but a few.

I invite you to come and experience St. John’s firsthand.  Our Admissions Office is pleased to provide tours to parents and prospective students or to arrange a full day visit for any young man or woman interested in attending St. John’s.  Our Alumni and Development Office extends a standing invitation to any graduate of the school to come back and visit, join us for lunch, or take a tour to see the many improvements that have been made to St. John’s College High School.

Come and let St. John’s be a part of your life.

Sincerely,

Brother Thomas Gerrow, FSC
