Spirituality

With a prayer that starts each class with “Live Jesus in Our Hearts,” the Lasallian mission remains the clear center of a St. John’s education. Our Campus Ministry Department provides daily and overnight retreats at which students may examine the many challenges that face them. The four-day “Kairos” retreat gives Juniors and Seniors the opportunity to build a spiritual foundation that will help them throughout their lives. In the classroom, understanding the Scriptures, the life of Jesus Christ, and good moral and ethical choices teaches students to live a life of humility and love while striving for their goals. The extensive service component of a student’s education helps them live out this mission as they may work in soup kitchens and shelters, travel to Appalachia, build houses for Habitat for Humanity, or participate in various other service opportunities.
