About SJC Rugby________________________ Famous Rugby Players Worldwide __________
If you’re visiting this site it probably means that your son has chosen to be part of the unique experience that is St. John’s Rugby. First, from all the coaches, welcome to the team! Here you’ll find links to educate you about the sport of rugby and the program at SJC. You can get the latest news year round, and learn how you can get involved in supporting the SJC Rugby team.

We also want to use this opportunity to extend a personal invitation for you to contact our head coach if you have any questions about any aspects of the program. Please email Jason Maloni. jason@blackarrowmedia.com

In 2004, St. John’s College revived its rugby program which first existed at Military Rd in the late 1970s. Almost immediately it became one of the largest programs at the school.

SJC Rugby is a high-performance, competitive school-sponsored activity that practices year round and plays league matches in he Potomac Rugby Union February through June against high schools and “Under 19” clubs. Local powers including Gonzaga, Hyde Leadership School, Northern Virginia U19, Bishop Ireton and Georgetown Prep. Each year 450 high school programs around the country compete for a National Championship Title. Currently the SJC Rugby team fields an A side, B side and C side. The club began in 2004 and went undefeated in Division II league play. In 2005 the team moved up to Division One and made the semifinals of the Potomac Rugby Union Championship.

Once again, welcome to the club. We look forward to another great season and the opportunity to meet you in person.

Our Status ______________________________
Seniors and juniors on the rugby club earn varsity letters and the club enjoys varsity benefits courtesy of a very generous St. John’s administration and Athletic Department. The WCAC does not recognize rugby because many, but not all, schools have rugby programs. This is an ideal relationship because SJC Rugby enjoys the ability to play and recruit year round.
Code of Conduct _________________________
In 2005 the club created it’s own Code of Conduct which the players created and enforce themselves. Players who do not adhere to the Code of Conduct or maintain the academic are not permitted to be a part of the program.
