Who is a Certified Athletic Trainer?

A certified athletic trainer, or ATC, is a highly qualified professional who is responsible for the evaluation and care management of athletic injuries (see responsibilities of an ATC). The ATC credential signifies that an individual has successfully completed his/her schooling and has passed the national certifying exam conducted by the NATABOC. An ATC must acummulate continuing education units (CEUs) every three years to maintain this certification and remain current in recent issues in athletic training.
