Interested in Becoming a Student Assistant?
Students interested in athletic training or any other sports medicine related field, may assist the Head Athletic Trainer with daily activities in the training room and on the practice/game fields. If interested, students should see Mr. Mike Walker to volunteer.
The duties of the student assistant include the following:
- Assisting ATC with patient rehabilitation and pre-game taping and wraping of athletic injuries
- Recording daily check-in of patients
- Pre-game preparation (carrying medical equipment and water set-up/distribution)
- Overall cleanliness of the training room
- Students will be required to travel on Saturdays during the football season.
To become a student assistant to the Head Athletic Trainer, students must:
- Successfully complete the Introduction to Sports Medicine class offered at St. John's
- Become certified in CPR and First Aid
