The New Weight Room

On May 29th, 2006 the transformation of the multipurpose room to the new weight room began with the demolition of the hallway wall in the Roth Gymnasium. The drop ceiling was removed to expose the supporting I-beams and electrical structures.

These pictures were taken a few days after the demo when the rubble was cleared.

On June 16th, construction of a glass wall extending the entire hallway of the Roth Gymansium replaced the concrete wall that was torn down. Once the wall was in place, the inside walls of the room were painted white while the supporting poles and I-beams were painted red. New light fictures were attached to the ceiling as well.

Equipped by Ted Mathurin (class of '92) of Fitness Resource, the new weight room was completed on Friday, June 23rd. Ten new machines and a large set of rubber dumbells was brought in to complement the existing strength equipment from the old weight room located in the Gallegher Gymansium. The new weight room consists of 7 racks, a Smith machine, two leg extension/curl combo machines, lat pulldown/row machine, a four-station Life Fitness machine, hip and neck machines and a dumbell set ranging from 2.5 to 100 lbs.
