What is Athletic Training? In 1990, the American Medical Association (AMA) recognized athletic training as an allied health profession. The profession has grown to aid those physically active (of all ages) in the prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of athletically related injuries. As the governing body for athletic trainers, the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) outlines the responsibilities of its members and the way certified athletic trainers conduct themselves as professionals. The National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) is responsible for certifying individuals as athletic trainers, ensuring their continuing competence. |
