Benilde Program
Admissions Policies

Parents who are interested in having their son or daughter apply to the Benilde Program are encouraged to attend an information session given by Mrs. Engel. These information sessions are available throughout the fall; a specific schedule can be obtained by contacting the admissions office at 202-363-2316.

Students who apply to the Benilde Program must:
      • fill out a special Benilde application to St. John’s College High School
      • submit a recent psycho-educational evaluation (completed within the past 3 years.)
      • provide the remaining information required of all students, including standardized testing, grades and teacher recommendations.

THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS MADE TO REQUIREMENT TO SUBMIT A RECENT PSYCHO-EDUCATIONAL EVALUATION.

There is tremendous interest in the Benilde Program, and parents should be aware that we give priority to applicants according to the following criteria:

      1. Siblings of St. John’s students
      2. Children of active alumni
      3. Oldest child in the family
      4. All other applicants

These criteria were established because St. John’s prides itself on being a family school. Giving first priority to siblings allows families to have all of their children at one school. Giving second priority to active alumni encourages our graduates to remain active with the school, and honors the wonderful legacy of our active alumni. By accepting oldest children next, we allow families who have never had the opportunity to send a child to a LaSallian school to do so.

Because we do follow the criteria given above, it is highly unlikely that we would room have in the Benilde Program for the younger siblings of students who attended other high schools.

We do not accept transfer students to the Benilde Program.
