Computer Literacy        Macintosh/Microsoft Series


Step 1: Start up the Microsoft Word application and create a new blank document.

Step 2: Follow the instructions below to re-create the document - Ex3.pdf

Step 3: Edit the document to make sure it is 100% free of all mistakes - spelling, punctuation, and grammar.

Step 4: Proof read the document on the monitor using Print Preview.

Step 5: Save the file on your diskette or network drive with the filename EXERCISE3_yourinitials.

Step 6: Print out the document and hand it to me.

Step 7: Put a copy of your file in the correct network sub-directory.


YOU WILL BE GRADED ON BOTH THE PRINTED COPY AND THE SOFT COPY SUBMITTED.



NOTES:

Change the Page Setup orientation to landscape.

Set the document margins at 0.6 inches.

Type the year, 2006, on the first line and press return.

Insert a 8 column, 6 row table. Visually verify document to ensure table is in view.

Merge cells in first column and type in "DECEMBER". Enlarge and change font style.

Adjust size of column so that each letter is on one line.

Adjust size of columns 2 through 8 through Table Properties to 1.3 inches.


Center and bold days of week in first row.

Adjust size of rows 2 through 6 through Table Properties to 1.3 inches.

Enter numbers in cells.

Highlight column 1. Through the Tables tab, under Table Properties, select Borders and Shading. From the Shading tab, select a background fill of black and apply to cell.

Change font color to white.

Center text in column.

Add a 25% grey background to the Saturday and Sunday columns.

Apply a red background to the first row.

Center, change font style, and enlarge the year. If the table is not on one page, slightly reduce font size or enlarge top and bottom margin settings.

If you make a mistake, use the Undo Typing command under the Edit menu.

Allow yourself five minutes to submit both hard and soft copies.
