Costume List


BASE COSTUMES:
- all actors who play a teenager will need two costumes: a casual and a semi-formal.

Casual Male Kid-
jeans with large cuffs or khaki pants, white or colored sox that match, white, crew neck T-shirt. The shoes can be high top or low top “Chuck Converse All Stars”, keds, bucks, or loafers (preferably the “penny variety). The shirts can be button down oxfords (short or long sleeved but white only), or any kind of madras (small plaid) shirt. Also, bowling shirts are good. Also, look for sweater vests, baseball caps, matching belts, and fishing hats.

Semi-Formal Male Kid-
white (only) dress shirts (long or short sleeved) a suit or at least a coat and tie. Thin lapels on the suit and thin dark colored ties (very simple patterns if any at all). Thin black belt. Dark sox and tie black or brown shoes - bucks will work but not loafers.

Casual Female Kid-
keds or saddle shoes, white ankle sox, STOCKINGS! are a must. Capri pants or “clam diggers” Simple white or pastel colored blouses with the “Peter Pan” collar, simple (read: single colored) sweater of either the crew neck, or button down variety with appliqué would be great. Full skirts (with crinoline) either with or without the poodle on it. Hair scarves or head bands.

Semi-Formal Female Kid-
Dresses! the best would be solid colored or simple plaids, with the Peter Pan collar and short sleeves. Crinolines as required by the dress. “Party Shoes”, pearls, and white gloves


ACT ONE

Scene One: The Office of Almaelou Music, Inc.
Albert - Suit One (see “Semi- Formal Male Kid” above), nix the coat and roll up the sleeves
Rose - a business suit

Scene Two: Sweet Apple
kids - casual, except...
Matt - plaid sport coat, bow tie, black pants, belt, sox, and shoes (Wing-tips) and white button-down shirt

Scene Three: the MacAfee kitchen and Kim’s bedroom
Kim & Ursulla - casual
Mr. MacAfee - dark slacks and sox, business shoes, cardigan sweater with patches, white button- down shirt and white crew neck t-shirt
Mrs. MacAfee - blouse and skirt, pearls and character shoes

Scene Four: Pennsylvania Station
Albert - Suit One (see “Semi- Formal Male Kid” above), add coat
Rose - same business suit as I-1, add light coat
Mrs. Peterson - full “old lady” dress”, fur, hat, sensible shoes (or character shoes), pearls (double or triple), white gloves
Liz - nun outfit(?)
Andre - sailor outfit
Marcus - Indian costume
Group who sings - formal with official “Conrad Send-off buttons” and sashes
Sad Girl - same as Group who sings
Reporters - trench overcoats, and hats that say “press” with press notebooks (Kinkos) and pencils
Conrad - biker jacket, black jeans, black biker boots, black t-shirt, “Risky Business” shades
screaming girls - Semi - Formal with buttons
Sean & Marcus - train steward outfits
Chris White - cop outfit

Scene Five: Sweet Apple Train Station
all - same as I-4

Scene Six: The Steps of Town Hall
all girls- semi-formal
all boys - casual except...
Mayor - suit with white shirt and thin black tie
MacAfees - semi-formal
Mrs. MacAfee, Jessica & Mayor’s wife - hats, gloves, overcoats
Sean - Semi-formal
Matt - same as “Telephone Hour”

Scene Seven: the MacAfee kitchen
Randolph - casual
Mr. & Mrs. MacAfee - same as I-3 only she adds apron
Kim - casual but add apron
three girls - casual
Conrad - animal print bathrobe

Albert - same suit

Scenes One & Two: Kim’s bedroom and the MacAfee kitchen
Kim, Albert, Conrad , & MacAfees - same as I -9 only Albert rolls up sleeves and undoes the tie
Rose - “Spanish” /dance outfit (see me)
Mama - nightgown, bathrobe, hairnet & curlers

Scenes Three: the Streets of Sweet Apple
kids - semi-formal add light coats
Carlo - same as I-4 only add a bowling shirt

Scene Four: Maude’s Roadside Tavern
Maude & Caitlin - white shirts with sleeves rolled up, add aprons, dark slacks and shoes
Matt - shredded bum overcoat
Chris White - semi-formal only disheveled
Albert - same as II-1
Chris Wilson - casual but you are a mess!

Scene Five: the Shriner’s Meeting at Maude’s
Rose - same as II-4
Shriners - formal, add shriner hats
